We endeavour to support the accessibility tools and standards that are built into iOS. The supported accessibility features shown on the App Store in the accessibility card are:
This feature works automatically to speak the controls and information shown in the app, responding to swipes, double taps and other gestures. The general layout of the app is a home page containing a list or grid of locations like local folders, cloud storage servers or networked file servers that you can add to. Opening one of these starts navigation at the root of the drive and you can drill down through folders to lists of files by selecting each one in turn. Each element (servers, folders and files) has a menu with its own set of actions like delete, copy or rename. The other major elements on the screen are toolbar buttons (the Add To Folder button shows a menu of items you can create like a new folder) and the tabs and breadcrumb bars. The tab bar works like tabs in a web browser, but you can use the app without this (turn it off in Config / Admin Settings / Feature Switches / Show Tabs). The breadcrumb bar shows the current path, with a History button on the far left that pops up a menu showing recent files and folders.
Other settings that can help with VoiceOver are:
To switch the interface between light and dark, open Config / Preferences / Interface Style. You can select Light, Dark or iOS Light/Dark which automatically switches between the two to match the general iOS setting.
Commands are always identified with a name or icon or with both.
The light and dark themes have the most contrast between foreground and background elements. Other colour themes are available in Enterprise Files and though these may have lower contrast, you may find one easier to work with.
When this system switch is turned on, menus and popups will appear with minimal animation.
Features that are not shown in the App Store accessibility card are:
Basic support for this feature is included, but we hope to extend this in a future update.
In Config / Preferences / Accessibility there is a Larger File Name Text switch that controls filename size. At this time the app does not support the general iOS Larger Text setting.
If you need a VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) for one of our apps, please email us. We provide these to our US customers for reporting compliance with Revised Section 508 standards.
Over the years we have been very pleased to receive feedback on how well Enterprise Files supports assistive technologies like VoiceOver. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve the app with regards to accessibility, please email us at support@stratospherix.com
