FileBrowser is flexible

The same flexibility that allows 'FileBrowser for Business' to comply with stringent corporate security policies is included in 'FileBrowser for Education'. This allows you to tailor the app to the specific needs of your students or staff by switching off or enforcing particular settings.

Here are some of the features commonly used in education:

Read-only server files

Even if their account permissions allow these actions, FileBrowser for Education can be set up to protect files and folders from change via the app.

Prevent credentials being stored

FileBrowser can be configured to require login credentials when connecting to a server. To prevent this becoming a burden, it can also temporarily hold credentials until the iPad is minimized or goes to sleep, providing students easy yet secure access.

Bookmarking

Configure preset bookmarks to files or folders to make it easy for students to get to the right content, and fix these so they can't be changed or added to.

Offline content

Store files on the iPad in FileBrowser for Education's My Files folder so they'll be available offline, and then make this area read only so students can't accidentally change it or add to it.

Protect settings

Set an administrator password in FileBrowser for Education to lock down its settings. There are more flexible options available when using MDM so you can choose individual settings to lock.

Protect connection settings

If you wish FileBrowser for Education to exclusively access your school file servers, you may enforce this policy by preventing additional storage connections being added, and protect existing connections from being modified.

FileBrowser for Education is perfect for younger children where read only access to content is required. The Folder View mode may also be used to further simplify the UI.
